Welcome to my world

Maryam Soleimanirad

Who am I?

In my homeland, the lovely Iran, words were my sanctuary – a universe in which I could move freely. Yet, upon arriving in Germany, I found myself engulfed in silence, where my words seemed lost. In this quiet, I returned to my first love – the art of visual storytelling.

Painting and illustrating became once again my languages, through which I expressed myself. Thus, I became an artist, not just through words, but also through images.

As a woman born and raised in Iran, political themes are inseparably intertwined with my everyday life and my art. They shape the lines of my drawings and fill the spaces between my texts, telling stories of freedom, of loss, and of hope.

My art is a dialogue – between words and images, between here and there, between I and we. In this dialogue, I invite you to dive into my world, where every image tells a story and every word paints a picture.

Welcome to my world.

Willkommen in meiner Welt.

Echoes of a Stolen Childhood

What kind of world teaches its children to inherit shadows instead of dreams?

In the shadowed silence of war's grim theatre, where the earth is scarred and the sky weeps ash, there wander the smallest souls with the heaviest hearts. Children, with eyes too wide, too old, having seen the unspeakable, dance upon the ruins of yesterday, clutching dreams like fragile sparrows in their palms. They whisper to the winds, secrets heavy with innocence lost, and play among the echoes of gunfire, finding laughter in the spaces between. Amidst the chaos, their spirit, a defiant flame, flickers brightly against the encroaching dark. For in the heart of devastation, where despair seeks to claim its dominion, the resilience of youth blooms, a testament to hope's undying song, softly humming the melody of a tomorrow filled with peace.

Collage : The never ending project

Final Shadow: On the Brink of Oblivion

In our pursuit of progress and prosperity, we often leave behind a world scarred by our indifference and cruelty, not only towards our fellow humans but also towards the other inhabitants of our planet. This collage project on animals threatened with extinction serves as a stark testament to our era, casting a glaring light on the legacy we are leaving for future generations.

Dekonstruktion

Emancipation through deconstruction involves critically analyzing and dismantling societal structures, norms, and ideologies that perpetuate inequality and oppression.

By challenging these established frameworks, it seeks to liberate individuals from the constraints of traditional roles and expectations, paving the way for freedom and equality.

This process not only empowers marginalized groups by questioning the validity of oppressive systems but also opens up new avenues for understanding and redefining identity and social relations.
